“There is
someone in the house and here we are
Hiding in the
closet. We are literally
Letting this
guy rob us,” he had whispered.
“Thanks for
stating the obvious,” she spat as she
Gently caressed
his hand. “What do we do now?
We can’t just
let this guy rob us. We have
To do something
about it. We have to.”
“Well, what are
we supposed to do now?
He has a gun and he’s got a partner.
How about we
run right out in the open
And get ourselves shot? That sounds like a
great idea,”
He snapped as held
his fist firmly.
“I am so sorry
we got in this mess,”
She spoke as
she gazed sadly at his face.
“I should have
known better than to hire
A butler from a
shady man’s company.”
“Yeah, that may
have been a wiser move to make,
But here we are
now, stuck in the closet.
And I am sorry,
too. I should’ve been
A better man
and should have
Listened to you
when you need my help,”
He held her
face in his scarred, calloused hand.
“How about we
do this thing together?”
He offered
boldly, but she looked puzzled.
“What are you
talking about? What do you mean
Do this thing
together? What’s the plan?” She
Asked with an air
of hope in her soft voice.
“I think we can
get rid of these guys for good,”
He began as he
put his other hand
On her other
cheek and looked her in the eye.
“We won’t have
to lose anything at all.
Just trust me,
and if this is the only time
You fully trust
me, so be it. Now is fine.”
She held his
hands with a firm grasp and a
Loving touch.
There was a fire in her eyes.
“I trust you
right here, right now. Tell me your plan.
I’m afraid of
what the kids will think when
They come home
from their party and they have to
See with their own
eyes the trauma of an
Armed burglary.
I can’t do that to them.”
“And we won’t
have to. Trust me, dear, I promise.
The kids won’t
even dream of anything close.
We still have
time to set things in their right place
And we can fix
this whole mess before they
Come home later
on tonight. It’ll be okay.”
“If you say so,
then I trust you. Let’s get started.
